No, that^ is not a band name.  Barryfest is the hippest blog in New Orleans and The Saint is the hippest dive bar.   On a recent Monday night, we joined forces with the two aforementioned parties for a raucous and well-documented show.  Despite being 99% worn out, we summoned the energy we had left after 3 sleepless weeks on the road.  The good people at Barryfest took some great pictures and wrote a nice little review of the show.  Our favorite quote?.. “if there’s one thing undeniable about the Blue Party, it’s that they aren’t half-assing it.”

I’m as free as my Hair

For all you people that are too cool for pop music, that title ^^^ is a Lady Gaga quote.

If you scroll down this page a bit, you’ll find a post with a lot of pictures from a Tipitina’s show that we played back in May.  There’s a picture that prompted Natalie to tell me that I needed to get a hair cut.  Well I didn’t get a haircut, and per Natalie’s request, this is what it looks like now.  Although you can’t see the mullet that’s evolving in back, I still think that a haircut is clearly NOT in the near future…

Speaking of mullets, I’m thinking about growing my hair out till Halloween and then getting it cut into a perfect mullet and designing my costume based on the fact that I have a mullet.  When I test this idea on other people, dudes are all about it, and the girls seem less enthused. Hmmmmm.

Howlies

There are a lot of perks and pitfalls when it comes to playing in a band.  One of the best perks is getting to see a lot of other kick-ass bands for free. We opened for Howlies in Chapel Hill, and holy shnikees, these guys are amazing live.  They straddle the line between punk and straight-up rock and roll in a very refreshing way.  We’ve been jamming out to their album, Trippin’ with Howlies, in our Trailblazer ever since the show. It’s always refreshing to see a band give you 110% for an entire set, and these guys certainly did.

Psychedelic Furs

This past Southeastern tour was a tour of many firsts. We played our first show in Knoxville, and as far as I’m aware, it was the first time that members of an 80′s post-punk band were in the audience.  The band was the Psychedelic Furs, and unless they’re really good liars, we converted them into fans.  It was very reassuring to hear a band that’s been around since the 70′s tell you that you’re doing it right.  It was also fun drinking with them.
